A Message to Ponder

For some reason, people have difficulty structuring their arguments when arguing against supporting the currently proposed immigration revisions. This lady made the argument pretty simple. NOT printed in the Orange County Paper....

Newspapers simply won't publish letters to the editor which they either deem politically incorrect (read below) or which does not agree with the philosophy they're pushing on the public. This woman wrote a great letter to the editor that should have been published; but, with your help it will get published via cyberspace!

Broeker announces run for Supervisor seat

March 31st, 2010 is the deadline to file papers for challengers looking to run for local office. Local businessman Tom Broeker announced that he intends to seek a seat on the Des Moines County Supervisors board. Broeker announced his intentions on a local radio station. He released the following statement:

"I hadn't seriously considered running until last weekend and it wasn't until Sunday afternoon that I decided it was the right thing to do.  So I downloaded petitions from the Secretary of State website and started with my wife's signature.

Obama Makes 15 Recess Appointments

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Fed up with waiting, President Barack Obamaannounced Saturday he would bypass a vacationing Senate and name 15 people to key administration jobs, wielding for the first time the blunt political tool known as the recess appointment.

The move is sure to deepen the divide between the Democratic president and Republicans in the Senate following a long, bruising fight over health care. Obama revealed his move by blistering Republicans, accusing them of holding up nominees for months for the sole purpose of trying to score a political advantage on him.

Despite strong objections from Republicans and Democrats today Iowa’s spending increases $150 million for the I-JOBS program.  This added debt boosts the total I-JOBS program to $875 million.

With House Democrats poised to pass the Senate health care bill with some reconciliation changes later today, it is worthwhile to take a comprehensive look at the freedoms we will lose.
Of course, the overhaul is supposed to provide us with security. But it will result in skyrocketing insurance costs and physicians leaving the field in droves, making it harder to afford and find medical care. We may be about to live Benjamin Franklin’s adage, “People willing to trade their freedom for temporary security deserve neither and will lose both.”
