A message on the work of District Conventions

E-mail Print PDF

Over the next two weekends, Iowa Republicans will attend their district conventions. Districts two, three and five will meet Saturday, April 24. Districts one and four will meet Saturday, May 1. Delegates will continue crafting the 2010 Iowa GOP platform – a statement of the party’s political beliefs. They’ll also hear from local and statewide Republican candidates seeking support in the June primary elections. Below is a note from me and Iowa GOP Co-Chairman Jim Kurtenbach to those Iowans.

Dear Republicans:

As we prepare for the 2010 District Conventions, Co-Chair Jim Kurtenbach and I wanted to take a moment to thank each of you for your dedication to the Cause, offer our gratitude to retiring State Central Committee members, and share our insight on the upcoming State Central Committee elections.

After studying the budget and spending, the auditor is coming to some of the same conclusions that House Republicans made during the session: the budget spent too much, saved too little and raised property taxes.

Obama care Quick Facts

E-mail Print PDF

Concerned citizens across the country have asked the Republican National Committee what they can do now that Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have ignored the people's will and arrogantly forced the government takeover of health care down their throats.

The first step in our Party's plan is to raise the funds necessary to fire Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid by electing Republican majorities to the U.S. House and Senate. You and thousands of hard-working Americans have already made a commitment to ending the Democrats' divisive one-party rule in Washington by generously donating to the Republican National Committee's Fire Nancy Pelosi Money Bomb last week. Our Party and our candidates are grateful for your tremendous support.

Big changes needed in Des Moines

Why big changes are needed in Des Moines? The headline says it all.

Headline: Big Revenue Gap Awaits Lawmakers

When Iowa’s legislature reconvenes in 2011, its members will have the difficult task of filling a huge budget hole. We taxpayers cannot sustain a state budget that spends more money than it takes in. Yet majority Democrats repeatedly have taken the easy way out, using one-time federal money (still your tax dollars) and cash reserves (more of your tax dollars) to cover the costs until the next year rolls around… and, not by coincidence, get them past November’s elections. Well, federal money is drying up and so is Iowa’s cash reserve.
